Dilshad Aliyarli is an Azerbaijani journalist living in America; she was the anchor woman of the first television show transmitted from the USA in the Azerbaijani language.
Dilshad Aliyarli was born and raised in Baku, Azerbaijan. She graduated from Baku State University with B.A degree in Oriental Studies. She studied Arabic at Bourguiba Institute of Modern Languages (Institut Bourguiba des Langues Vivantes) in Tunis, Tunisia. After her graduation she was hired by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan as a junior researcher.
From 1996 to 1998 Dilshad Aliyarli was a BBC Azerbaijani reporter in Sarajevo, Bosnia. In 1998 she moved to the United States and was hired as an international broadcaster by VOA Azerbaijani Service.
Dilshad Aliyarli was the first anchorwoman of “Newsflash”, the first daily TV show transmitted from Washington to Azerbaijan. In 2006 she launched a new TV program-“American Review”. A weekly TV magazine was intended to give the Azerbaijani audience a greater perspective on political and social life in the US, and US-Azerbaijan relations.
Dilshad Aliyarli is writing extensively on women’s issues. Her articles were published by OKAzerbaijan! and “Caspian Crossroads” magazines in Baku.
