Call for Application: Minnesota State Autism Conference


The 28th Annual Minnesota Autism Conference will be held April 26-28, 2023 at the Marriott Minneapolis Airport Hotel. AuSM is currently looking for breakout speakers for the conference! Breakout sessions last one hour each, and will be scheduled by our conference selection committee at a time during the conference.

We are looking for high quality proposals that include practical strategies, community building, and the latest information addressing a range of issues facing autistic individuals and their communities. Our goal is to provide relevant information for attendees at all levels, including those who are new to autism and those who have years of experience.

AuSM accepts proposals from anyone with expertise in autism. Expertise is not necessarily formal education: it can come from lived experience, work, community organizing, or other sources.

We accept proposals on any topic related to autism. We are specifically looking for presentations related to the following topics, which our community has shared are of interest:

  • Intersectionality
  • Employment
  • Mental health (including anxiety, co-occurring diagnoses, PTSD and trauma, drug and alcohol addiction, etc.)
  • Gender identity
  • Emotion regulation
  • Social skills
  • Sensory integration/supports
  • Alternative and Augmentative Communication
  • Current research
  • School supports
  • Early intervention
  • Supports and strategies for parents, siblings, educators, and providers
  • Transition
  • Behavior
  • Housing
  • Aging
  • Executive function
  • Sex/sexuality/dating
  • Service navigation
  • Sensory supports
  • Ableism

Breakout presentation proposals are due by Friday, Nov. 18, 2022. AuSM will send out acceptance and rejection letters by the end of December 2022. You can access a Microsoft Word version of the application here. Final submissions must come from the online form, but you can use the Word document to draft your answers in advance.
