Call for Applications, the 2017 Azerbaijani Youth Film Festival

Announcing the 2017 Azerbaijani Youth Film Festival! Back for its fourth year, The Azerbaijani Youth Film Festival is an opportunity for filmmakers in Azerbaijan under the age of 25 to win prizes and have their short films screened on the big screen.

Founded in 2012, the goal of the festival has always been to encourage youth to learn basic filmmaking skills, and to celebrate Azerbaijan's growing film scene. We believe you don't need a fancy camera or a studio to make a great film. If you have the drive and the skills a telephone, a group of friends, and your backyard will do just fine.

In our fourth year we're expanding our festival to welcome more experienced filmmakers as well. If you've studied film or have experience making them you're invited to send us your work under the 'professional' categories on our submission page.

From now until September 15th send us your short film in one of three categories: Short Narrative, Documentary, or Music Video. Films should be filmed after 2015, shorter than 9 minutes and should follow our theme for this year: Tell your story. 3 winners from each 3 category will be chosen separately: professionals and amateurs. 1st place will receive a laptop, 2nd place will receive a tablet and 3rd winner will get professional headphones.

The festival will be held for 3 days from September 29th to October 1st. You are then invited to attend our festival screening in Baku where we'll show not only festival films, but short and full length films from Azerbaijan and America. We'll also have special guests, music, food, and an award ceremony to recognize your efforts.
