#ESWI launches call for applications for Claude Hannoun prize for Best Body of Work and Young Scientist Innovative Award, supporting next generation of #young #scientists

On 18 October, ESWI opened the call for applications for the Claude Hannoun prize for Best Body of Work and the Young Scientist Innovative Award. Deadline is on 28 February 2023. 

The Claude Hannoun prize for Best Body of Work  is named in honour of Prof. Em. Claude Hannoun, a founding father of ESWI. The competition is open to all young scientists worldwide who want to advance their research in the field of respiratory virus infections.  ESWI is also pleased to launch the 3rd edition of the Young Scientist Innovative Award. The Young Scientist Innovative Award is an award supported by CSL Seqirus recognising exceptional research by a promising young scientist in the field of influenza vaccine development.

Both awards are part of ESWI’s encouragement of young scientist in the field of respiratory viruses. Since 2021, this works had been spearheaded by ESWI's Young Scientist Ambassador Debby van Riel

Currently, she is an associate Professor at the Department of Viroscience at the Erasmus MC in the Netherlands. In 2017 Debby won the Claude Hannoun prize for Best Body of Work. Currently, her research focuses on the pathogenesis of extra-respiratory complications of respiratory virus infections, such as influenza A viruses (seasonal, pandemic and zoonotic influenza viruses) and SARS-CoV-2. Please see here full bio here.
