Call for Applications - YouthADAPT Challenge


The Youth Adaptation Solutions Challenge (YouthADAPT Challenge) is a competition and awards program for youth-led enterprises addressing climate change adaptation in Africa. The challenge is supported by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Climate Investment Funds.

Winners of the challenge will be awarded a business grant of up to $100,000 each as well as the opportunity to further develop their ventures through a 12-month business support, mentorship and acceleration program.

     

The African Youth Adaptation Solutions Challenge (YouthADAPT Challenge) is an annual competition and awards program for youth-led enterprises (50% women-led) jointly organized by the Global Center on Adaptation, the African Development Bank and Climate Investment Funds (CIF) as part of the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program YouthADAPT flagship pillar. The challenge seeks to boost sustainable job creation through support for entrepreneurship and youth-led innovation in climate change adaptation and resilience across Africa. The competition invites young entrepreneurs and Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises in Africa to submit innovative solutions and business ideas that can drive climate change adaptation and resilience.

The 2022/2023 cycle of the Challenge will support 20 winners, 50% women with an emphasis on digital solutions to climate change adaptation and resilience building across sectors including agriculture, infrastructure, waste management, and environment, among others.

The closing date for the call for applications is 4th October 2022.

The winners will be part of a 1-year accelerator program, which will provide the following:

  • $100,000 grant funding
  • Capacity Building Training
  • Mentorship and Coaching

The accelerator program will equip youth-led enterprises to scale up their innovative businesses and build resilience among marginalized communities in Africa.
