Call for Applications, be’kech Residency Program 2018 in Berlin, Germany

be’kech is offering a month-long research residency in its coworking space in Berlin, starting in November 2018. be’kech is an epicentre for all things cultural, social and entrepreneurial, located in the heart of Wedding, a multicultural district of West Berlin.

The residency is designed to support social researchers from diverse backgrounds to work on projects related, but not limited to, one of the following fields:

  • Female empowerment, particularly research with a focus on minority experiences and perspectives
  • Race and/or religious movements and intercultural dynamics
  • The politics and/or lived experiences of migration and borders in Europe/globally

These categories are intentionally left broad and non-exhaustive, so please use your interpretation and creativity when sending in your proposals.

As a community space dedicated to diversity, cultural awareness and public education, our first resident will be an individual working on a project that listens to minority voices and perspectives to inform their work on larger political trends. The last few years in Europe have witnessed the rise of right-wing movements, social disparities and rapidly changing demographics. Through our resident programme, we aim to become a centre of cultural knowledge, public discussions and activism intended to combat these negative trends. As our resident, you will join our community of creatives, freelancers, researchers, activists and more, collaborating with those around you to build up your personal work and ideas.

Residency outcome:

The selected resident will receive a month-long membership pass to use the be’kech co-working space and its facilities to conduct their research. This pass includes daytime drinks and meals.
