Postdoctoral Researcher for the period of January 1st 2019 to December 31st 2021

Department of Management and Entrepreneurship has three units: Entrepreneurship, Information Systems Science and Management and Organization. This Postdoctoral Researcher position is positioned in the unit of Entrepreneurship.

In the Entrepreneurship Unit entrepreneurship is studied widely from the points of view of the individuals, the companies as well as the whole society. Our research activities focus on two themes in particular: entrepreneurship and new working modes; and, entrepreneurial behaviour and business growth. It is important for us that our research serves the needs of both basic degree and doctoral students as well as the needs and activities of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship policy-makers. A person selected for the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher is required to have a doctoral degree, ability for independent scientific research and the teaching competence necessary for the task. The qualification requirements of the position are described in the rules of procedure of the University of Turku.

The tasks and responsibilities of a Postdoctoral Researcher include mainly independent academic research particularly in two research projects (DISCE and ACE) as part of a larger research group. The applicants are asked to develop in their research proposal, which particular DISCE and/or ACE aims the applicant wishes to contribute to and in which ways in their own research. In addition, the Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to planning of new research projects, participating in teaching, supervising of theses work and students, and in university administration where appropriate.

We are looking for a motivated researcher who is interested in the field of entrepreneurship. The position of a Postdoctoral Researcher is designed at developing competences of a recent PhD as a professional researcher. The vacancy is aimed at a PhD in a suitable field who has completed her/his degree within the past five years. Furthermore, an applicant should have a strong research orientation and excellent skills in English. The applicant’s scientific track record and especially international scientific publications are taken into account in the recruitment decision. In addition, the connection of the applicant’s research with the unit’s research focus and educational needs is taken into consideration. We value the applicant’s capability for teamwork.

The post is subject to a six month trial period.

The salary for the post is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. The task specific salary component for the Postdoctoral Researcher is 2 893,95-3 374,18 euros per month (according to level 5–6 of the job demands chart). In addition, a personal work performance component will be paid. The personal work performance component is a maximum of 46,3 % of the task specific salary component.
