OSTRENKO WORKSHOP PROGRAM
The workshop program is focused on Ostrenko brothers approach of actor’s training, relying on the Russian Theatre Tradition, as well as the newest experiments in performing arts.
The main focus of the program is to explore physicality in performance through the methods of:
- K. Stanislavsky "Physical Action", M. Chekhov "Psychological Gesture", Meyerhold's "Theatre Biomechanics";
- Training by the method of improvisation;
- Scene composition from an exercise to a performance piece.
These are some of the elements uniquely transformed and combined in Ostrenko's teaching system to suit the needs of contemporary performers, directors and teachers.
Participants will practically explore the performer's physicality
as the principal creative instrument, the key to form and style an atmosphere and emotional palette in contemporary performance, stepping beyond the limits of normative text-based acting.
Practical sessions develop in the form of various exercises that progress from simple to compound.
Participants gradually proceed from solo to group improvisations and structures. Every day sets a spectrum of advanced creative tasks, developing the preceding steps.
Through the system of consecutive exercises, the group establishes a common language and trust, an ability to collaborate and create together.
Program includes practical workshops, works in progress, performances, lectures and interactive talks with performing arts teachers from all around the world.
The schedule is designed in a way that enables participants to take part in all events of the program - the Lab and the Conference.
